Peace through poetry. A pamphleteers micro-anthology.

My wife and I recently started a poetry pamphlet. It’s got ten poems in ranging from Abraham Cowley and John Dryden to Amy Lowell and Katherine Mansfield. You’ll also find my favourite, Robert Frost. It’s a short pamphlet with some lyric poems in that you probably will not be familiar with that will bring some slow living to your day.

Many of the poetry anthologies available, including all of the wonderful online resources, are large. This is a micro-anthology. It’s just enough poetry to sit down and read for an hour. And it’s not so much that you won’t be able to ponder it for the rest of the day.

We have purposely concentrated on poems written no later than the early part of the Twentieth Century. There’s so much poetry to read, much of it modern, much of it excellent.

But people don’t read enough old poetry because it’s not simple to find the best poems. This selection is a way of reading ten highly accessible poems. So far a few dozen people have received one and the response has been good, from poetry lovers and non poetry lovers alike.

Some of the poems are relevant to the immediate situation, some are not. The cover is hand illustrated.

If you’re interested, you can get a copy of the first pamphlet here. And remember, it makes a wonderful gift.

If you do want to send it as a gift, let me know and I can include a note on an Emily Patrick postcard. (She painted the image at the top of the blog homepage).

We can probably only post to the UK right now because of the current situation, but if you are in another country and interested email me.

And of course, you can always read this blog’s micro-anthologies as well.
